On the 24th May, a unique spell was cast over the Isle of Angesey in North Wales.. Against a spectacular backdrop of a sparkling blue sky and the striking Welsh mountains, a haven of fun and frolics was conjured..
The first in 2009’s series of Kiddstock events was as commanding and captivating as a spell from the wand of Gandalf himself. Over 2000 excited and hedonistic clubbers travelled from far and wide to revel in ‘The Magic Kingdom’ and none left feeling disappointed.
In true Kiddstock tradition, the sun shone brighter and with a certain extra vivacity than ever before on the Isle of Anglesey.
But with so hefty a battalion of DJs waiting in the wings to entertain and mesmerize the revellers of the Magic Kingdom, even the sunshine and beautiful location wasn’t enough to keep the masses from getting down and dirty in the impressive aircraft hanger-esque buildings.
With a sublimely powerful kick-off to the proceedings courtesy of Kiddfectious All Star Suni Feenix, the beats started off deep, techy and transcendent. With the anticipation of the legendary Scot Project slowly building, the Technicians and Shaun T took to the decks to start the sparks flying. When the Founding father of Hard Trance graced the stage the air in main arena was heavy with exhilaration. Pounding out the finest selection of twisted and edgey trance like only he knows how, Scot Project set the standard from a very early stage.
Kiddfectious favourite Mark EG had well and truly been enchanted by the Kiddstock spell by the time he took over the reigns. Spraying the exuberated crowd with his very own supersoaker caused some momentary panic on stage. As a broom was produced to sweep away the watery carnage, Mark seized the opportunity to demonstrate his flying skills. Unfortunately, the broom was not the magic kind that was expected, and left Mr EG grounded. The broom was immediately destroyed by Mark for being inadequate!
Elsewhere in the Magic Kingdom, things were hotting up to epic proportions. As Frantic hosted the second room, taking care of the hard house lovers, the hardcore fanatics were being looked after by the Clinic in room three. In between which, all kinds of treasures and goodies were to be found within the Magic Village area.
Outside, screams of elation and euphoria saturated the air. Fairground rides provided exhilaration fuelled thrills, the aroma of summer grub and bacon butties satisfied rumbling tummies and the welsh fauna played host for blissed out chilling, soaking up the atmosphere and random banter.
Back beneath the Kiddfectious K's and impressive lasers, the beats continued as the sun began to set. Best New Face (HDA 09) Kidd Kaos took to the decks to prove why the future is destined to be a future of Kaos. Banging out an eclectic mix of driving hardstyle and tech-edged hard trance fused with his own productions, Kris whipped the Kiddstock crowd into an inimitable frenzy, perfect for local lad Argy to follow suit.
The Welsh clubbing faithful were there in force to support local legends Argy and Danny Killa who certainly didn't let the side down.
The main room continued to be thoroughly rocked to its core right the way through til 4am with pounding and captivating sets from the all star lineup - Lisa Lashes accompanied by MC Lox, the slightly crazed Organ Donors then the host himself Alex Kidd.
And who else could follow such a set but the two international, Q-Dance frontrunners the Prophet and Evil Activities, both of which ensured that the main room was kept rocking til kick out time.
As if the main room action wasn't enough to keep the Kiddstock revellers entertained - a sterling line up of DJs and MC's were in residence in both the Frantic and the Ravers Reunited v Clinic rooms, pleasing two very up for it crowds!
AK – "What a wicked event!! Big shout out to the Kiddfectious Team who made the magic happen, all the artists and crew and most of all to everyone who made it over to sunny Anglesey on the day...BIG love!
Personal highlight would have to be Kidd Kaos and myself rocking the Frantic arena! I love playing b2b with Kris and the reaction we got from the crowd in room two was awesome.
ROLL ON KIDDSTOCK ENGLAND, IRELAND AND SCOTLAND!!!
