Which one track can we be expecting you to devastate the dancefloor of the Kiddfectious Main Arena with?
Definitely one of my own, Amber’s Theme which is out now on Kiddfectious. Alex Kidd & Kidd Kaos have done a fantastic remix of it also…
Not only are you a successful hard dance diva, you’ve also worked hard to earn yourself a sterling reputation as house/electro DJ Amber D’Amour. What provoked you to originally make this move and which guise do you feel suits you best nowadays?
I love both the styles for different reasons, and could never choose one over the other, as being a musician means you are ultimately into so many different types of music. I set up my electro label, D’Amour Recordings as a way to get my electro / house music out there, and then Amber D’Amour was born from that…. Now I get to play so many styles of music, including electro / house / fidget & old skool.
From your point of view, which artist on the Kiddstock England line up is the set not to be missed?
Would it be too naughty to say mine?! I have to say this as I really want to show the Kiddstock clan what I’ve got! Being my debut an’ all… Watch out for a techno set from yours truly as I’m playing a bit early on ;)
You’ve been jetting to and from Ibiza quite a bit this year. What have you been busy with over there and what do you think is the party of the season for 2009?
Yeah Ibiza has been mental this year… I think we worked it out that I am the busiest Hard Dance DJ over there this year, which is no easy feat let me tell you! I have also been lucky enough to host my own event at Play 2 in the west end for my D’Amour Recordings label…
The party of the season definitely has to be Atomik for me though…It is a fantastic venue, I love it so much… and we’re getting a new sound system in this week I am told too.
Pioneers of Old Skool, Ratpack are booked to play at Kiddstock England, who typified many people’s first experiences of dance music. What was your first taste of dance and what element was it that got you hooked?
I effing love Ratpack! They are amazing… I definitely love playing Old Skool myself, but seeing the originals doing their thing is amazing. Definitely gonna be staying around for them! My first taste of dance was probably a Ministry of Sound CD called The Annual 2. I used to play it over and over whilst playing Theme Park on the Playstation…. Them was the days….!!
You’ve produced some huge tracks over the years and have collaborated with everyone who is anyone within hard dance! If you were to join forces with another artist from the Kiddstock England line up, who would it be and why?
Definitely would love to do a track in the future with Mr Alex Kidd… I can imagine that catalyst of ideas in a studio… Lethal! Yeah, definitely Alex.
Kiddstock has taken on a new mysterious theme for 2009 – ‘The Enchanted Realms’. If you were one fantasy character or creature, who would you be and why?
I am actually Chun Li from Street Fighter… But that’s just on bank holidays now.
If you could create your very own ‘Enchanted Realm’, where would it be, who would be there, what tunes would be playing and what would you be drinking?
It would probably look a bit like World of Warcraft (I’m Amberhazza by the way if anyone plays it) and a bit like Alice in Wonderland, and it would be set in Thailand. We’d have bangra rock psy trance fusion bossanova playing, and we’d be drinking cider and black... Yeah, you know you wanna come.
What one thing are you looking forward to most before the end of the summer?
Getting some rest! Enjoying my holiday with my husband, friends and god children in Marbella and creating a whole lot more musical delights for your aural pleasure.
